Four iconic figures of Mexican rock music have officially joined forces to create the supergroup Madreperla, setting the stage for a major concert on August 27 at the Teatro Metropólitan in Mexico City. The band brings together veteran vocalist Cecilia Toussaint, guitarist and composer José Manuel Aguilera, versatile bassist Federico Fong, and legendary drummer Alfonso André.
Based on reports from cultural journalists, the supergroup first debuted on March 14 during the Vive Latino festival before scheduling their upcoming headline performance. Each member brings decades of individual experience from influential bands like Caifanes, La Barranca, Sangre Asteka, and Arpía to this fresh collaborative project.
The creative origin of the band dates back more than thirty years as a casual virtual music concept among friends. According to Cecilia Toussaint, the project was finally revived in 2023 when she reconnected with her longtime colleagues to bring the dormant musical idea into reality.
