Malaysia And Australia Top June Visitor Statistics

According to reports from the Central Statistics Agency or BPS released on Monday, August 3, 2026, tourists from Malaysia and Australia became the largest contributors of foreign visitors to Indonesia throughout June 2026.

Ateng Hartono, Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics at BPS, revealed that total foreign tourist arrivals to the country reached 1.17 million visits during the month of June 2026.

Citing reports from the official press conference, this figure represents a 2.05 percent increase on a month-to-month basis and a sharp 9.99 percent jump year-on-year.

"Foreign tourist visits in June 2026 mostly came from Malaysian citizenship, amounting to 190.8 thousand visits or 16.30 percent," Ateng stated during the briefing.

Breakdown Of Top Foreign Visitor Nationalities

Following Malaysia, Australian travelers secured the second position with a contribution of 13.42 percent, which is equivalent to 157.1 thousand visits during the same monthly period.

Singapore ranked third on the list, accounting for 123.7 thousand visits or a 10.57 percent share of the total international visitor arrivals to the country.

Statistics show that Chinese tourists followed closely behind, capturing an 8.36 percent share of the overall international arrivals recorded by the agency.

Officials explained that the surge in tourist numbers from Malaysia and Singapore was largely driven by border entry accessibility and regional sea transportation, particularly around the Riau Islands and Bali.

Cumulative Tourism Growth For Semester One

On the other hand, visitor arrivals originating from Australia continued to be heavily dominated by air travel movements heading directly toward primary favorite destinations such as Bali via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.

Looking at cumulative figures, the Central Statistics Agency noted that total foreign tourist visits throughout the first semester of 2026 safely breached the 6.43 million mark.

Based on reports, this realized performance marks a substantial 21.20 percent increase when compared directly against the exact same corresponding period from the previous year.

"From January to June 2026, total foreign tourist visits reached 6.43 million visits, and this number increased by 21.20 percent if compared with the same period in 2025," Ateng concluded.
